and stretching to allow the muscles to lengthen and relax.
Swedish Massage
This is the most popular form of massage therapy in the world. Invented by Henrik
Ling from Sweden in the 1830's, this form of therapy uses five different strokes
and manipulates the superficial layers of muscle tissue. Therapists use hands,
forearms and/or elbows along with active or passive movement of joints. Some
of the benefits are mental relaxation, improved sleep, increased circulation
and general muscle relief.
